about the battle
of the ceos

The typically response given every year by hundreds of climbers who attempt Mount Everest, "Because it is there."

Although this event is a far cry from climbing Everest (no one has ever died), this race requires many CEOS to learn a new discipline. About half of the competing officers have never competed in a triathlon before. Many must learn something new such as swimming a mile or training for 4 months to push through a grueling run after a 40km bike and 1500 meter swim.

Furthermore, each CEO, working 60-90 hour weeks at their business must make great sacrifices. They feel compelled to set a positive example of fitness for their staff members and associates.  A fit CEO is a leader in charge of his or her life.  To be in charge of others first a leader must be in charge of him or herself. A leader of any organization should hold themselves to a higher standard of positive leadership in business and personal life.

The competition description:

This year, each CEO must discipline him or herself to train through the spring and beginning of summer.  There are going to be plenty of days where we would rather just go to the beach and get some sun.  Now, we'll be going to the beach and swimming!

You will be competing in the SLO Triathlon this year.  For the Battle of the CEOs veterans, who are used to Wildflower, this should be a nice tune-up for whatever events you are training for.

For all of the Battle of the CEOs rookies, think of the SLO Triathlon like a "Mini-Triathlon". The length will be enough to challenge you, but not enough to hurt you.

The course includes:

-0.5 mile swim -  The swim will take place in the SLO Swim Center.  You will swim 36 pool widths.

-15.3 mile bike ride - The bike course will be and out and back course on Orcutt Rd.

-3.1 mile run - The run will take place on the railroad rec trail and tie into the city sidewalks, ending at the SLO Baseball Stadium.
